Permission Granted "Eat The Cookie, Buy The Shoes" By Joyce Meyer

Joyce Meyer "Eat The Cookie, Buy The Shoes"
Giving Yourself Permission to Lighten Up

Engrained in our culture is the belief that unbending discipline is the only sure way to success. You must go to the gym five times a week, never order the dessert, and don't even think about buying that dress you keep staring at in the store window. Breaking from such a regimented lifestyle is a sign of weakness, right? Wrong!-and Joyce wants to tell us why...

Though setting rules in our lives are important, it's just as important that we break them from time-to-time. Structure is a powerful tool, but when diverging from your own goals is seen as catastrophic, it can have a hugely negative effect on us. Balance is a core value in life and every once in awhile we deserve to indulge in a guilty pleasure or two. So don't feel bad about straying from your goals every once-in-awhile and in fact, embrace it: eat the cookie and buy the shoes!

Spiritual Leadership

Let us pray that God will give us grace to lead with humility, courage and wisdom.

* Humility: There is no place among Christian leaders for a “know-it-all” attitude. The true leader never ceases to be a learner.

* Courage: We need to challenge the complacent attitude which has been described as “the seven last words of the Church” – “It’s never been done that way before.” True leadership is about leading the Lord’s people to move forward in faith.

* Wisdom: There are some situations where humility is called for – “we don’t have all the answers.” There are other situations where courage is called for – “This is the way the Lord is leading us. We must follow Him.” We need wisdom to know, in each situation, which we need most – humility or courage.

At the heart of true leadership, there is a real commitment to being led by Jesus Christ who “did not come to be served, but to serve” (Mark 10:45).

The ‘Wisdom’ Which Leads To ‘Salvation Through Faith In Christ Jesus’

2 Chronicles 1:1-2:18
‘Give me wisdom’(1:10). What is the greatest wisdom of all? - It is the ‘wisdom’ which leads to ‘salvation through faith in Christ Jesus’. Where do we find this wisdom? - Read ‘the Holy Scriptures’. Ask God for wisdom - ‘Open my eyes that I may see the wonderful truths in Your Word’. Ask the question concerning salvation - ‘What must I do to be saved?’. God will give you His answer - ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved’(2 Timothy 3:15; Psalm 119:18; Acts 16:31). Salvation cannot be earned. It can only be received as a gift. It is ‘the gift of God’(Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8). What is wisdom? - It is to say, with Solomon, ‘Our God is greater than all other gods’(2:5). Nothing else and no-one else can even begin to compare with the Lord. Be wise. Build your life on Him (Matthew 7:24-27).
